AI TRAINING VIA MACHINE LEARNING AND DEEP LEARNING

Embedded systems are powerful enough to handle even the most demanding AI applications (“artificial intelligence”) such as simulations or neural networks. According to a short study by the Fraunhofer IAO on the topic “Applications of artificial intelligence in production environments”, however, one should not speak of “application options” but of so-called “tool groups”.

Depending on the location, embedded computers in the AI field can be used for text and speech processing, image and sound processing, multidimensional pattern recognition, knowledge representation and semantics, action planning and optimization as well as emotion recognition and intention analysis. Due to their compact design, PUMA systems can be easily installed at the local level. This keeps latency accordingly low and brings the AI to the edge of the network. Experts refer to this as AI@Edge or Edge AI.

In the vast majority of cases, the software must complete a learning or training phase before it can be used in real life, which is also known as machine learning and deep learning. Software engineers can use well-known AI platforms such as IBM Watson or Google AI to develop applications that can be used, for example, to implement facial recognition at security terminals or autonomous driving systems.
